Getting in touch
Communicate with clarity with a simple, well-designed website.
The Attack Design ethos is that a website needn't be complicated, but it does need to be effective.
Ensuring that a website's user interface is clear and simple to use can be a remarkably challenging task. It takes a finely tuned combination of good design, well written copy and professional web development to make a website stand out from the crowd.
This is where Attack Design could be of help. Scroll through the tabs to find out what’s on offer and what can be achieved. If you like the sound of what you read then feel free to get in touch via either of the contact details below. If you'd like a quote for work then please read the planning section first.
Attack Design provides a full design and development service with custom built, hand-coded websites.
At Attack Design I specialise in front-end website design and development without the use of templates.
I design and code websites using XHTML, CSS and JavaScript, but on the flip side I don't work with server side technologies or databases – sorry!
I create useable and accessible websites that conform to exacting W3C standards – and in doing so ensure that sites will be accessible to the widest possible audience. Accessibility is complemented with browser-specific testing and search engine optimisation. After all, what's the point of having a website unless everyone can access it easily?
The first step in creating a successful website is to plan it effectively.
This is where your input is crucial. To create an effective website it is necessary to scope out exactly what your project involves. In doing so it will be possible to plan how long it will take to complete, and perhaps more importantly for you, to cost it appropriately.
Completing the downloadable Project Planner will help me focus on your requirements.
This document asks a number of straight-forward questions about you and your business, what services or products you provide, who your audience is, and what you are trying to achieve. Answering them will help us lay the foundations of a well-designed, functional site.
Attack Design is the smallest of web design studios, in that it consists solely of me – Andrew Harland.
Originally from Northumberland, I now live in Berkshire with my partner Helen and our one-eyed cat.
With a varied arts-based education, I have studied for BA and MA degrees in fine art, the history of art and film theory. Since 2001 I have applied my skills to a variety of editorial, web design and web development roles, and in this time I have worked for a number of high profile public and private sector organisations.
For the past four years I have worked for a FTSE 100 company creating interactive e-Learning resources for schools. However – as you now know – I'm also a committed freelancer and regularly have the capacity to take on small to medium-sized projects.
How to get your website off the drawing board and into the browser.
Ideally you will have read through the project planner and done your homework before getting in touch, but if you have a quick question then feel free to drop me a line.
Otherwise, please spend a little time thinking through your requirements as best you can, then send your completed planner to me at the e-mail address below. After receiving your planner I will assess your needs and aim to provide you with a free quote and draft proposal within a fortnight.
